Officially I think. In addition to getting a pair of shoes at the end which is the ultimate reward is y'know LOVE shoes it combines so many different qualities from all the crafts I love to do. The technical side of garment design with the pattern-making and the creative side with the design and selection of materials. The gluing and folding component of bookmaking (yes I love gluing and pasting). The molding and coaxing of the leather of the last reminds me a lot of spinning. The hammering and sanding reminds me of middle school woodshop and DIY home decor. There is of course that wonderful blend of sewing and crafting when you assemble the uppers. The shopping in the obscure little shoemaking stores reminds me of the tool hunt from weaving.
Yes I DO have too many prior hobbies though. Sewing, patternmaking, quilting, bookbinding, knitting, spinning, weaving, felt craft, cross stitch etc etc etc.
But I think I might like shoes the most like all roads lead to shoes which is good because after all that walking you might need a new pair.
