What did I do differently this time? Well I took the same pattern and changed the vamp to be something similar to the first one and also tightened the topline (a tad too much) and used topline tape (self adesive tape which has some elasticity to it specifically for the top edges of shoes). I kept the suede clean and interfaced it so give it better body. I used a fake dremel to sand down the edges of the thermoplastic toe puff and counter.
I also used Texon board and Master Cement which I got at Saderma in North Hollywood. So much better to work with. Than the rubber cement, barge cement tube and contact cement I had tried before. I also got a really nice swedish skiving knife that the salesman claims they don't make anymore and I believe him since he found it deep down in a box somewhere. It's seriously impressive.
However I didn't put any padding in this time and only a thin rubber sole. Combined with the overfitting of the upper its great for sitting not much for walking. I managed not to get any excess glue or masking tape goo on anything and the topstitching went ok but not perfect.
So far the green shoes have gotten the most wear and are actually pretty darn comfy. OH and I cut the sock liner a tad small. But for pair #3 it is a good proof of concept that I can produce something that looks good this pair and feels great the other 2.

Combine the good things together and I've got something. I mean I CAN make shoes. How freaking cool is that.
